THE AGENCY
Tell all the Truth but Tell it slant
— Emily Dickinson
Veritas is a full-service literary agency representing both fiction and nonfiction. Founded on the premise that literature is one of the best vehicles for truth—both artistic and literal—the agency cultivates strong, innovative books that extend the boundaries of thought and expression.
With active contacts in film and foreign markets, we pursue the channels that enable a title to reach its widest audience. Veritas maintains the structure and spirit of old school literary agencies, where a close relationship between author and agent continued through all stages of a writer’s career. By maintaining a selective list, we can ensure that every author and title receive consistent, thoughtful attention and resources. Accessibility is a priority.
Katherine Boyle / Founder
(she/her)
A Bay Area native, Katherine attended Stanford and the Berkeley extension publishing program before working at a variety of independent publishers and literary agencies. She established Veritas in 1995. A member of the AAR and the Authors Guild, she loves books that explore the lesser-known territories of human experience.
Michael Carr / Agent
(he/him)
With a strong background in editing and writing, Michael enjoys teaching at workshops and conferences to help develop emerging writers. He is fluent in Spanish and speaks conversational French. Before joining Veritas, Michael had professions as diverse as programming simulators for nuclear submarines and owning an inn in Vermont.
Chiara Rosati / Literary Scout
(she/her)
Chiara attended Middlebury College in Vermont where she cultivated her love for literature and mastered the Italian language. Prior to joining Veritas, she served as legal counsel to emerging companies in Silicon Valley. Chiara’s passion for nuanced expression in the written form, combined with her devotion to nurturing clients and their creations, fuels her artistic mission: that of helping noteworthy manuscripts make the transformative journey into published works.
